Lion Tamer

I woke up from a dream this morning that I was with a couple of friends and one of them wanted to tame a lion, so we went onto the highway and he found a truck that was a traveling circus and hopped on and tamed the lion, then went to the front of the truck and asked to join the circus.

I felt like this was a metaphor for all the strange hoops I’ve been trying to jump through to  try to get somewhere.  Maybe it was God putting things in perspective, showing me that, hey, if he can tame a lion, my own lot isn’t so tough after all.

But upon thinking about this dream, it strikes me that the lion inside the circus truck must have already been tame, mustn’t it? Maybe things aren’t as tough as they seem. ^^

Usher usher usher

It never fails to impress me how his songs can worm their way into your heads. Case in point, I heard “Scream” on the radio for the first time a few weeks ago, and I thought, oh, another typical club banger, in the ranks of “OMG” and “Tonight” saying the same thing in different words.  But somehow after being forced to listen to it time and again on top 40 radio navigating through traffic, I found myself flinching if someone changed the station. “That’s my jaaaamm!” My mind would say.  I once heard the man say on an interview that when he first started off, LA Reid made him go to Flavor Camp hosted by Diddy.  Maybe that’s where he learned that secret ingredient to manipulating young minds into loving his music.  Hmm…where do I sign up? ^^

Don't unintentionally dress your babies like a wild animal of prey

Saw this on CNN.  A lion tries to eat a baby through a glass window at the Oregon Zoo.  I guess the advice to avoid wearing horizontal stripes because they widen your figure isn’t just fashion magazine fodder after all…evidently the baby looked like a plump baby zebra to that hungry lionness.  Kinda reminds me of the dye-your-dog trend.  See below for visuals.

Ice Cream Every Day

One of my favorite singers, Amel Larrieux, is coming out with a new album this year! And it’s titled, “Ice Cream Every Day,” double yay! Here is her myspace blog entry (that site still exists?) explaining the title: Ice Cream Every Day by Amel Larrieux. It’s not what you think! (Not actually about eating ice cream everyday…well, sort of). Makes you think, huh? What’s your ice cream every day?

Beer Only Fast for Lent? (Before you judge, read on!)

Whoa, I remember hearing about this last year, but I sort of forgot about it.  Article just showed up on CNN front page about this guy who fasted on only beer and water for Lent last year, and before you write it off as a dumb bro-ish stunt like I did when I first heard about it, read this article! I think his own words explain better his intentions.  Seems pretty mature and well-thought out to me…especially the amount of willpower it would take to resist all that food… now that is not something a frat boy could do.
